Minutes

Mark announces that we currently have 16 people on our SPIE chapter roster. For funding, we currently have an activities grant, and officer travel grant (which can be used for travel funds to a SPIE conference), funding for a visiting lecture, and also the ability to apply for free books.

Mark announces that we need to have an organizational meeting soon (separate from the FP3 lunch meetings). The date of the meeting will be forthcoming in an email.

First Speaker is Nate Grady, speaking about “The Basics of Optical Mouse Technology”

Second Speaker is John Casey, speaking about “The Molecular Scale Manipulation of Photons”

Mark asks the group to continue thinking about possible T-shirts designs because we have to decide on a design soon.

Surbhi asks if we are still planning to get polo style shirts or not?

Mark says he likes the idea of polo shirts, and then asks for others’ preference.

Most attendees have no strong preference between T-shirts and polo shirts.

John asks about the difference in price between T-shirts and polos?

Mark responds that T-shirts are cheaper. Since there is not a strong demand for polo shirts, the cheaper T-shirt option is probably best.
